THE Pasig City government’s barangay (village) aid program will continue to promote efficiency and end patronage politics, Mayor Vico Sotto said.

Each year, smaller barangay receive P4 million while bigger ones get P6 million, excluding their regular budget from national tax allotments and real property tax shares.

Sotto said that the program, launched in 2019, enables barangay to swiftly respond to residents’ needs, including small infrastructure and urgent repairs, without assistance from the city or national government., This news data comes from:http://jyxingfa.com

“Politically speaking, this was a difficult decision to make. But we know that patronage politics is a big part of the cycle of corruption, so we are trying to break it,” the mayor said.

He thanked villages that have used the funds properly and noted that the aid remains under Commission on Audit rules, with the local government conducting special audits to ensure transparency.
